Although it's nowhere near done, onkei-kun of Ryuu-Rogue fame is translating the first Digimon Adventure novel. Seeing as she's moving her stuff between sites this link is liable to disappear any moment but when I find the new one I'll put it up.
http://digi-shousetsu.livejournal.com/2020/02/08/The novel is basically DA in book form. However, it discusses some things not seen in the anime: what each character was thinking during certain moments...and the most important part: what each kid was doing right before summer camp, and how they all ended up in one cabin...
This was obviously written after the anime's end, because Hikari is mentioned (she wasn't meant to exist in the original anime plot, which was meant to be 17 episodes...17! 17 episodes! Now we have 240+...), but it's quite interesting and can be considered canon.
*spoiler* Some facts:
* Jou was Mimi's camp counselor, hence why he knows her so well and why he is protective of her.
* Koushiro didn't think he was on an alien planet.
Mimi thought she was on an alien planet...
* The summer camp was a school trip. Why was Takeru there? There's an explanation for that too.
* Hikari was able to see Digimon
before Taichi returned...and the scene is
creepy...
