| So, it's Memorial Day, and we're going to the cemetaries to honor our loved ones passed, right?
Suuuure. Except all of my dead relatives are buried 2-3 hours away from my house. In three separate cemetaries.
The first leg of the journey wasn't so bad. I engrossed myself in Slaughterhouse-5 (which I have to read for my english class) until we got to the first cemetary. I miss you's and all that aside, and we stopped for lunch/dinner, and drove the half hour to the second cemetary. We had to fix a couple of stones that toppled over, but other than that, that trip wasn't so bad.
Then my mom decides, "Let's go looking for the rinky-dink cemetary that I haven't seen in twenty years and show your father my ancestors!"
So we spend the better part of TWO HOURS (and by this time its almost dark - I'm typing this from the car) looking for this place, which is supposed right off of the state route. We're lost in the middle of nowhere in the dark and at least 100 miles from home.
To make matters worse, my ADHD little brother forgot to take his meds this morning, and he's headbanging to the Dresden Dolls in the seat next to me, his hippy hair flying everywhere and the bass pouding so loud I think my head is going to implode. My mom is complaining about having to pee when this was her idea in the first place, and my dad is getting aggravated at having to turn around every ten minutes with the Garmin with the British accent yelling at him every single time. Oh, and did I mention I have a seven page paper due tomorrow, with only half of it written? We've been gone since ONE FREAKING THIRTY.
I think I'm done with car trips for a while.

| Ouch. I feel sorry for you. Even if it's a little funny reading it.
Good luck with your paper though.

| Aww, baby cakes, that does suck. The military cemetaries are a little ways away. But I wasn't aware that people actually celebrated this day. I just got a free day and loved it! (Can you tell how patriotic I am?) They made you Slaughterhouse?! For real? That's... new. Car trips do have their upsides. Cheer up, in a few years you get to do the massive road trip across the country with your friends. | |

| Aaargh... Long car journeys. Is there anything more depressing?
That said, I think Memorial Day sounds kinda cool. We don't have anything like that over here (or at least, not to my knowledge), it's more like "So, they're dead. They're gone. Let's go get roaring drunk."

| I think cemetries are interesting places. Maybe because there're hardly any here.
But anyway.
It sounds amusing now, but it was probably pretty tortourous then... I actually like long car rides, but this sounds a little too chaotic!
Hope your paper went okay in the end!

| Thanks everyone, for your sympathies and cheering-up words! Now that the stress of my paper is over with (and after a considerable nap - staying up until 2:30 on a school night suuucks, btw) it's kinda funny to laugh at myself. So thank you! | |

Isn't Snape's hair supposed to be not that clean-looking, though? If Loreal does that to his hair, what might it do to mine?

| Yeah, but it's funny! Maybe it should have been "Herbal Essences" instead. And the words, "Yes... YES... YESSSS!" could have flashed. | |

Thanks! My friend told me about it once, and I happened to stumble across it yesterday. Tee hee.
