| ...I don't dislike him... I just found him a bit pointless.
And I swear his accent was too British...

| I have to agree with Aana, there... Maybe he was an immigrant to America before he became a Chosen Child? | |

| I neither like nor dislike him, I guess... he doesn't appear enough to be given that much attention, in my opinion. I found his involvement rather puzzling, to be honest; it would have been better if they showed him more towards the end. | |

| Yeah, it's like they just kind of put him there to look pretty, but otherwise shows no otheruseful function. | |

| favourites : Matt (the lone wolf thing is so cool) Tai (hes just comedy gold) TK (02 version is just really awesome) and Kari (shes kinda cute in an anime sense, had a crush on her when i was younger ) exile: Yolei (she is totally annoying and never shuts up) Cody (totally pointless although Armadillomon is cool) Michael (just seems to much of a snob) Rosa (makes Yolei seem bearable) and the Hoi Brothers (cliché) other then that i do like all the other Digidestined just not enough to put as favourites | |

| Y'know, Matt was one of my favorite guy characters, well he still is, but I think I've read too many of those "lone wolf" fics to really enjoy that perception of him.
I think it goes along the same lines as, "Matt's the tragic guitar player," "Matt was abused by his father and that made him see things different," and "Matt was never loved so he can never love."
It's cliche and tired. | |

| Angsty Matt makes me want to slit my wrists. It's way too overused. I mean, when I see Matt, I honestly think he's supposed to be a warm natured person, but just really quiet unless he's riled. Am I alone??? | |

| I third that.
Seriously, some people just need an output for all their anxieties. Recently, an RPG's become the pitiful dumpsite for my grief and I feel lots better after an uber-angsty post or two.

| I agree with the Matt Lone Wolf Overuse. He's got tons of friends who love him in my mind. And a whole different boat of problems. He certainly ain't suicidal. |

I disagree! A good writer can make a character "anything" and still have the story be interesting too.

| but then in a writers POV writing and angsty Matt in the beginning gives him a lot more room for character development and story development cuz you will always have the reader wondering why is he so troubled? Whats happened? etc. | |

| Yeah, but that doesn't mean you always have to introduce Matt in this manner, right? It would get so repetitive if all Matt-centric stories feature him as a mysteriously angsty person with oh-so-dark secrets! | |
