Yay! Useful information!!
Right, does it bug anyone else when they read a Digimon fic and one of the characters
has gone on a trip to Tokyo? They all live in Odaiba, or Tamachi, both which are located in Tokyo. So, I was wondering, how does the location thing work? Tokyo's a big place, it must have some sort of district system. And it does...
There are twenty-three Special Wards in Tokyo, which governed as cities themselves (cities-within-a-city, if you will). We are only interested in Eastern Tokyo (the name "Tokyo" comes from tō (east) + kyō (capital)), though there is also Western Tokyo (which, unsurprisingly, gets it's name from being to the West of the Special Wards of Eastern Tokyo)... Yes.
The term "central Tokyo" generally refers to three Special Wards: Chiyoda, Chūō and
Minato.
Minato. Both Odaiba and Tamachi are major districts found in Minato ^,^. So, if you want to use a slightly more specific location address than just "Odaiba", you can say Odaiba, Minato. (Which is in Tokyo, Japan).
I
think this is all correct. I got the information of Wiki (specifically,
here and
here)....Yes. If someone would like to tell me if this was useful or not, I'd be grateful
Oh! And here's some random useless-but-gigglesome knowledge: one of the Special Wards of Tokyo is called
Taitō. MUWAHAHA.
