Because sometimes we get all excited of that little "Review Alert" only to find the actual review to be disapointing. =(

I know, it can sound like a spoilt rotten kid complaing about how they can't have what they want, but come on! We all need a little rant every now and then!

Some of us are also "lucky" enough to recieve reviews that make us go "WTF?" or laugh, this is a place to share!

Me and Xiexie are ALWAYS complaining about this!! lmfao.

It's not so much the, "This was awesome! UPDATE!" reviews that bug me. It's the people who ALERT and NEVER review! It's like what the hell? You have the time to read and deem it alertable and sometimes even favorite but do they care to explain why they did that!? I guess it's understandable if they alert on the first chapter, or before the story has really got off the ground, but a little encouragement is nice!

Oh and when you get PM's from random people asking you to update your stories! I'm like... "and you are?"

The reviews that TELL me what to do tick me off as well. HA! I have a prime example.

The Feud has Yolei and Kari are competing for Ken's effection and for recognition. So I get this review:

I felt like saying, "Did I ask for your opinion?!" Instead I said, "Thank you for the review and that much blue would be overkill."

And because that was left via anon review and the GUY (oh yes, ladies and gents, this was from a dude!) disabled PM'ing, I didn't respond. So I got ANOTHER review.

At this point, because this was all in the span of one hour, I felt like disabling anon reviews! And it doesn't stop there, there were TWO more afterwards! I guess he was waiting for a response that I couldn't give. It was just annoying. I wanted to just go off on him and tell him to write a damn story himself. Or at least to tell him the fic isn't about what they're wearing!!!

In the end, when I can anyways, I just delete the stupid ones! Sucks that the signed ones can't be deleted as well.

Another anti-review qualm I have is when you get a review from a twelve-year-old and they tell you that your story lacks complication! And you blink because you're wondering what the hell they read, you could have sworn the story was one giant complication after another.

Ooh, that sounds rough, like those readers have entitlement issues or something :/

My mind is still boggling over the "Kari's outfit" guy. There isn't enough WTF?-power to cover it, for serious.

Thank you! I hate that too.

But if there is one thing that really ticks me off is when a reviewer flames your story and then acts like he/she is just giving you constructive critisim. Constructive critisim is helpful; it's advice that will help to make your story and writing skills better. Flames on the other hand are just hateful attacks on your story; I don't see how tearing my self-esteem and pride in my story to shreds is helping me.

And then it gets me more ticked off if the bashers are registered authors on the site and have never posted a story themselves!

That just makes me think that these hateful idiots can dish out but can't take it.

Yeah, those alert-without-reviews annoy me the most! It's like a few hours after I update, I get lotsa emails so I'll be thinking they're reviews... then it turns out they're practically all alerts. :/ It's irritating!

Yeah, he stopped after the 5th review! lol.

I think Matt needs to review The Feud with the suggestion that Kari and Miyako start wearing trench coats.

Time for a little logic:

The number of reviews and the number of hits a story recieves are inportional to each other.

The more hits a story has the less people review. And vice versa.

I have no idea if anything I just said makes sense. I'm so tired right now..

I've seen a oneshot that has 150 reviews. And they keep on coming.

That's exactly why I shouldn't make theories when I'm tired.

No, Caitlin, I get what you're saying. They never add up. But I guess you really can't complain when you have loyal readers who will deal with anything your brilliant, or in my case absurd, mind comes up with.

I am really freaking annoyed right now.

I wrote a Harry Potter one-shot that has over 500 hits and is on 5 favorites lists...

And it has 1 review.

Only 1 person reviewed the story.

I don't mean to sound like an ungrateful bitch, because I'm glad someone reviewed, but still considering that in over 500 hits at least one other person could have reviewed.

I know how you feel, Caitlin. It sucks when people fav without reviewing. I mean, I'm glad that people like it enough to fave it, but I would really like to see what they have to say about the story!

But I guess you gotta admit that Harry Potter is a humongous fandom - so many stories are uploaded there every single day - heck, hour - so getting five favs and one review is pretty good actually.
