PostSubject: "And how old might you be, little girl?"   Thu Jul 09, 2009 2:25 am

Right so, I'm going to take an example to bring us to the topic of my rant.
(Uh, lingerie and sex toys referred to; just thought I'd give a head's up)

Today, whilst out shopping, I was in a lingerie store (that's lingerie store/sex shop in the back) quietly browsing.
In came two girls, two young girls. Seriously, I'd guess they were about 13 (and should have been at school at that time of day, I'm sure.) Cue lots of giggling, gasps, freaking squeals and "Should we go in?" "Are we really going in?" "OMG! We're going in!" "OMG! We're inside!" "OMG! Look!" and so on.

Now, I realise it's a free country and all, and they're not really doing any harm, but something about it all got to me.
There they were, giggling and knattering away without a clue, preventing me from shopping in peace.

Why, yes, girls, that is underwear, it is designed for women to wear. Yes, yes, that is a thong, it does go between your buttcheecks, where else would it go? Yes, that bra does come undone at the front. Why? Because some find it more practical and/or prefer it that way, shocking, I know. Ah, yes, thant ensemble is, basically, transparent, it's kind of the point. Nope, that's not practical, neither are those bows. What on earth could those "little hanging strings" be for? Other than stockings, of course.
What an earth could this "fancy dress stuff" be for, you ask? Who on earth would wear that strange get-up, you want to know?
Ah, yes, you do seem to have stumbled into the back area of the shop, that is where sex toys and porn seem to be kept. You know, I wouldn't recommend picking that up, or fiddling around with it as you try to figure out how it works, it's not exactly becoming of you.
Why, yes, the woman who works here does seem a little annoyed with you. I wonder why that is? Could it be that we can hear your incessant giggling and scandalized exclamations from the other side of the store? Could it be that it's a little obvious that you don't plan to buy anything?
Do you not think you lack a little maturity here? Yes, maybe it is best if you leave, whilst almost managing to knock over the display I was standing by. You are in an awful hurry, could it be that embarrassment has caught up with you? Hm, you seem to be running down the street now, trying to get away as fast as possible, it would seem, whatever for?

I get that they're young and therefore unexperienced, just as I get that I probably come across as an old lady screaming: "Damn kids! Get off my lawn!"
But I really think that there's something wrong with such a picture.

Not just this one, but kiddies in such situations in general.
There's a girl in my home town -in her early/mid teens, I believe- who is known as a slut, a pothead etc. Apparently she's been indulging in such things from an even earlier age.

I may be old-fashionned but I just don't like seeing them trying to grow up so fast. Maybe it's because I did (I'm not even that much older than them, dammit) I dunno.

Does anyone else have a few thoughts on the subject?

Other than I completely agree with you?

No.

My friends were idiots like that. We'd walk into let's say a store called Spencer's for instance. They sell joke stuff, mature joke stuff. Dice that tell you to commit acts your grandmother would fall dead at the sight of, and edible undergarmets. Things of that nature. And of course, the substitute for a male companion.

I'd stand there reading whatever book caught my attention while my dummy friends were blushing as they touched "things" and looking around to make sure no one noticed them. Then of course, in the instance that they actually bought something - a cheeky keychain, a book of "tricks" - they never paid for it themselves.

I'd have to throw my fifteen-year-old dignity out to the clerk while he looked at me like I was way too young to be purchasing such things.

And now, I hate walking into Fredricks or Victoria's Secret and there they are... clones of the people I used to know.

It's like I avoid the mall because of people like that.

I really hate that.
Whenever I am at the mall I see little girls in middle school walk up to a La Senza or whatever, giggling uncontrollably asking each other if they, "Really should go in?" I'm not even that much older than them and I want to hit them.

It kills me when I see girls their age dressing like they are 20. I don't understand why they would want to grow up so quickly. When I was in middle school I didn't even wear make-up! It also drives me crazy when they look at me like I'm the most ridiculous thing they've ever seen.

So in short, yes. I completely agree with you.

Aye. They should learn to be more mature when it comes to that stuff. Giggling at such things isn't really how women, or girls in general, should carry themselves.

Right, first off I want to say I'm in total agreement with all of you... But I just want to pick up on one point in particular - and possibly stray from the topic a little, but I'm sure we'll come back to that.

My thoughts EXACTLY! My sister is 12 (...I think...), and she's possibly the coolest girl in her school. Note "coolest", not "most popular". Allow me to give an example- she's been drumming (on proper, acoustic sets - none of that electrical garbage) since she was 7. (She got involved in the Christmas concert at school, so I put my "big sister boots" on and went to go support her... Like she needed it! As soon as she got up to go on stage, every kid in the room was chanting her name. Tell me that's not cool!)

But yeah, she's got this one friend. Who's sweet by her own right. I kinda like her, really. But... This girl is REALLY girly. As in the "I want to mature as fast as I can and sometimes I dress like a baby prostitute without meaning too. Oh, did I mention she's a rich kid and gets anything she wants at the click of her fingers? So when my sister comes home from this girls house... She's laden with stupid clothes. Miniskirts, fashionable tops... I mean, some of this stuff is proper gorgeous... Just not on a 12 year old!

For crying out loud, my sister came home with a BIKINI yesterday!

Try not to turn into the overprotective Taichi, now.

Uh, oh....

I wonder what chaos would occur if what happened to your sister happened to Hikari and then Taichi finds out. (Might make for a good challenge, too)

That WOULD make for a good challenge... but we may need more details...

Maybe Hikari could be forced into it, seeing as it isn't really her style? Or it could be dressing up for a laugh with friends for a party and Taichi gets it into his head that she's going to be working the streets?

IKR? lol

He'd be in a total panic, crying out to the heavens "Where did I go wrong as a big brother?"

With a few more details this will make a great challenge.

But my brain is totally fried right now, I can't think of ANYTHING!

I feel like a total moocher, just nodding along with everyone else's ideas and being all "yeah, that'd be great!".

Where has my brain gone?!

I love "IKR?"
Most likely because I'm always saying it IRL (Another one I use, lol)

It's my joking-but-not-really response to compliments!

I've never seen those ones.
I'm sometimes slow on English chat-speak; I know my way around French chat-spak. Though I mostly refuse to use it, it's horrible and nowhere near as cool-looking.
